About ICEHA

The International Center for Equal Healthcare Access (ICEHA) is a network of US and International HIV healthcare providers (MDs, RNs) who volunteer technical assistance on HIV care and on the delivery of antiretroviral medication to clinics in developing countries.

ICEHA’s mission is to build a sustainable healthcare infrastructure in resource-poor settings by temporarily engaging American and European healthcare provider volunteers to train local medical professionals in techniques to curb the HIV epidemic and provide the best care to those infected.

ICEHA’s vision: To contribute to a world where healthcare is accessible to all and where epidemics such as HIV and SARS cannot take hold.

While funding for anti-AIDS medication in resource-poor settings is increasingly becoming available, the implementation of successful treatment and prevention programs has been severely hampered by the lack of local healthcare professionals trained to prevent and provide care for HIV/AIDS. ICEHA increases the number of skilled local healthcare providers, thereby expanding and strengthening the quality of healthcare delivered to patients in developing countries. As a direct result, more HIV-infected patients are able to receive treatment and HIV transmission that occurs as a result of unsafe medical practices  is virtually eliminated in the settings where we work.

ICEHA works only at the request of clinics or governments in resource-poor settings, and we enlist partners from local nonprofit or governmental organizations to coordinate the in-country logistics of the program. This ensures that our programs have the local support they need to be successful.
