For Clinics in Developing Countries
Technical Assistance ICEHA Can Offer Clinics in Resource-poor Settings
ICEHA’s volunteers offer technical assistance in HIV care and medication, including medical expertise, training and operational assistance. The technical assistance provided allows developing countries to obtain and / or improve local medical expertise as well as institutionalize operational systems that enhance their ability to cope with epidemics such as HIV/AIDS. Given the multiplier effect of this simple transfer of knowledge, ICEHA’s programs offer a high-impact solution.
In addition, ICEHA ensures a consistently high level of quality of instruction by requiring volunteers to be trained and certified by ICEHA. ICEHA is the only program to offer this level of consistency amongst its volunteers.

In order to effectively increase access to HIV care and medication, ICEHA provides technical assistance at two levels: medical expertise and operational delivery systems.
ICEHA’s programs are based upon the integration of three methods:
- A locally relevant HIV teaching curriculum, which ensures that the material taught is pertinent to the resource-level of each particular country.
- Workshops, which consist of formal training sessions using the locally relevant teaching curriculum to provide medical expertise to participating physicians and nurses.
- On-site coaching using teams of volunteer experienced HIV physicians and nurses to provide practical technical assistance that allows hands-on examples to reinforce the techniques learned in the workshops. Coaching is provided at the clinical as well as operational level.
